Protecto Super Stick Building Tape®
Just noticed this stuff on the shelf today. There was a written note next to it from the buyer at the yard saying you can use ANY caulk underneath or over this stuff.
Anybody out there used it yet? I'm interested but always cautious with unproven products. The Mfg says they have eliminated curling problems, it can go on over wet substrate, no primer needed, extreme hot/cold, and can take 12 months of UV exposure. Almost sounds to good to be true....
Thanks for your thoughts.

Re: Protecto Super Stick Building Tape®
I have used this on my own house when installing doors, windows and deck ledgers...In fact, I used it today on a window installation. The stuff works great...I have never had a problem with it not sticking. I had installed some around a window before the winter, never rolled it and it was left exposed because it never got a chance to put the siding on. It is still stuck and stuck well.
I have come to prefer Protecto Wrap over Vycorhttp://www.putfile.com/jeffaah/images/107329

Re: Protecto Super Stick Building Tape®
Thanks Jeffaah,
Just to be clear this is not Protecto Wrap. I've used that for years but this is a tape impregnated with monster glue. I'm thinking of using it for flashing some patio doors that terminate over a membrane that is non-compatible with Bitumen or Asphalt based flashing.

Oh.....I did a search and they look the same. Oh well.....IMO, the protecto wrap is excellent. So if the Super Stick Building Tape is better then it should be ...umm...more excellent

Re: Protecto Super Stick Building Tape®
Actually, I get it from Home Depot.
I was doing something at my house on a Sunday and needed a small roll of Vycor. The Building Center was closed so I went to Home Depot to see what they had in stock, I bought Protecto Wrap. I was hesitant to use it becuase it is from HD and I had never used it before. After some research and first hand experience, I think it's good stuff. It sticks well in a wide temp. range and doesn't roll like Vycor tends to do.http://www.putfile.com/jeffaah/images/107329

Re: Protecto Super Stick Building Tape®
Interesting update:
Went to get more of this tape, none on the shelf. when I asked the staff if some was in back they said the company had called that a.m. and asked for it to be taken off the shelves. I guess they recalled all of it, so it was too good to be true. Luckily I had not installed any of it yet.

Re: Protecto Super Stick Building Tape®
About 8 months back there was some issues with Vycor Plus being recalled or phased out due to it's melting under normal heating conditions. I used to buy it all the time from my supplier and they just couldn't get it any longer due to what they called "oozing out from behind the siding itself."
They continued to stock the standard Vycor, but it just didn't have the same adhesion properties as the plus.
I believe that they've corrected the issue, but then again, I haven't bought any in a while.Chuck
