      I read that article as soon as it arrived, and being involved now with munincipal inspections(yeah, I'm on that side too!) I found the simple explanations of what are typically minimal requirements for code today to be easy enough for anyone to build a safe deck!

      Actually, building safely doesn't have any excuse for not doing so!!

        I am consistantly amazed at the crap that gets built here in Myrtle Beach, SC. I am on a addition now where, on the existing house, there is no drip edge, no starter course of shingles, & the siding is not nailed into the studs. You should see the deck construction. It's real nice.
