Crown Heritage - EasAlign
There is a new tool (new to me, anyway) for aligning and fitting rail and fittings. My stair supplier gave me a pamphlet with this thing in it the other day. Says it replaces rail bolts and the headaches that come with them. Has anyone ever seen or used this system, and if so what are the pros and cons? And, sorry, I haven't asked about the price yet, or if it will work with other profiles of rail. It looks like a great system.

I've seen a Swiss made tool few years ago that did the same thing - can't think of the manufacturer...

Wow, that's really expensive for what you get. It does look like a great joinery system, though. Has anyone used it? Except for the removability factor it looks like a rail kit for the Domino would be a good alternative.

I saw the EasAlign system at JLC Live last year. It is very slick and if I installed any significant amount of rail I would get one. Expensive and very efficient. Not sure what the Domino does re rails but it might be a more all-purpose tool to buy.

Unfortunately JLC live doesn't happen in FL, that I've heard of, anyway. I'd love to catch some of the workshops.

Re: Crown Heritage - EasAlign
they are nice systems I worked with a stair contractor on our last big job and he had one was realy nice for fit up because you could assemble and dissasemble quick and easy no annoying rail bolts and no plugs.that said it is not cheap and i would not buy one unless i did a fair amount of that work it would be like buying a bosch scms and all you do is drywall work.
Tom D.
more tools please.

Re: Crown Heritage - EasAlign
I got excited when I saw this product, as much as I despise rail bolts. Maybe it would be more cost effective to get better with them than paying out the nose for this setup. I'm in the process of getting away from doing the actual physical work on jobsites, and taking on more of a managerial role, so I'll probably skip this one, as neat as it is. I do, however do all of the more difficult projects our company does, and that includes finished stairs. Guess I'll have to mull it over some more.

Re: Crown Heritage - EasAlign
I have had the Easalign system now for about 6 months. I love it!!
It makes much easier joining the fittings to handrail. It allows you to put the fittings together with the option to take them apart with ease. It makes my life much easier when I have a continuous handrail that starts at a platform with "S" curves and going to a second floor to return to another wall. The downfall though is the fitting refills are pricey, the last box of 30 I bought, cost me $375, and 2 jobs later I need to order more again.
But overall it is an AWESOME product.

Re: Crown Heritage - EasAlign
How has using the system affected your completion time? And are you only using it for rail to fitting connections, or is it useful for other connection, such as rail to newel, where otherwise you would through-lag and plug?
