new wet-saw
I need to replace a 25 yr. old wet saw. Does anyone have experience with the M-k that uses the motor that looks like a hand grinder? Do they have enough power? do they scream like my hand grinder does? Should I just go to the larger frame standard motor model? Someone mentioned a month or so ago about a different brand that they were really happy with (and don't say B.E.S.!). Anyone really remember what it was (Was it a Felker?) Any help appreciated

Re: new wet-saw
craig-
I finally bought a MK370 or 377 is it? Last year. Came with the stand and the MK HotDog blade. I really like it, my previous tools were a cheapo tabletop 100 dollar tile saw, for before we did too much of the large scale tile work, and also a regular score/cut rig.
The MK is a huge improvement over the little saw. Its got plenty of power usually, and the sliding table is great, you can get good 45's out of it too, especially when youre putting in a row or something and you need them to be dead-nuts. Im overall pretty happy with it. It does take more time/room/setup, but once were setup we can just fly. The grinder/motor assembly does sound just like my 4.5" grinder, kind of a scream, but I've gotten used to loud tools and invested in earplugs when I dont want to put up with it. I think its a good bang for the buck. I dont know about going with larger/more expensive saws unless thats all you do. We remodel/now build homes, and I never sub finish trim or tile. Wish there was a good guy around the damn Northern Illinois area I could actually get in contact with!

Re: new wet-saw
Craig,
I bought a Pearl Abrasive saw about 5 years ago. I have been really pleased with it. It is a powerful yet relativley lightweight saw. Do a Google search for Pearl Abrasive. Expect to pay around a grand.

Felkner TM-75
7" blade, runs quiet, got it to replace 15 yr old Felkner Tilemiser I used for the small tile jobs. Backsplashes, tub surrounds, etc. that I don't bother my tile guy with.

Re: new wet-saw
I bought the MK 100 a few weeks ago. It's a great tool. We just got finished installing 3 bath floors, and a laundry room floor, total of about 500 sq.ft. all on the diagonal. It made the job a cake walk. Picked it up at SLowes who matched the $569 price of Tool Crib, complete with the same extras.
