ESTABLISHING MARK UP
WHAT'S THE BEST WAY TO DETERMINE YOUR MARK UP AND PROFIT.I HAVE NO EMPLOYEES AND AM GOING TO SUB OUT ALL MY WORK.I AM LOCATED IN THE BKLYN N.Y. AREA.I JUST WANTED TO MAKE SURE I COVER MY COST AND BURDEN FOR BUSINESS.

I am in the same position as you, but I have found the Hometech Remodeling estimator helpful because in the front of the book they speak to a contractors Gross Profit Margin.

Scott, "helpful" just isn't good enough.
Michael's is better, and for one reason. The entire book is about this subject. That's why the title is "Markup & Profit. A Contractor's Guide." Duh!

Scott and Others, Sonny is right, if you're serious about being in the business, there is two publications you NEED to read.
1) Markup & Profit by Michael Stone.
2) The Business of Building (cost of doing business) by NAHB.
