  1. Re: 8 Year Old House That Needs Its 2-Story Porch Completely Rebuilt!!

Depending on the extent of the rot Abatron can be used. I would not rely on its cured strength for structural attachment to a post though.

    Re: Siding on concrete walls

I would not oversize the wall framing. I would add a 'water table' horizontal trim piece at the bottom of the wall siding and flash over the stem wall siding.

Re: Dark colored pvc or composite trim

I would use AZEK for this project. Cut everything to size and prepaint prior to install. Source a color matched sealant, OSI Quad has a huge color pallet for example. Use SS fasteners and it should...

Re: how long can this forum continue?

Dick, anyone can start a Facebook group. That group can be made viewable by invitation only. That way no one can just stumble upon it and cause mayhem. People that do can be removed by the group...

    Re: painting old barn

    Mark,

Based on the level of quality expected by the customer as your guide, OR the budget for the project. The simplest, and a long lasting solution is a good pressure washing (not so powerful...

I'm pretty that ship has sailed Mark. The only hope as I see it attracting new forum members. And I'm not sure how that is going to happen.

    Re: wedi board

If you think you might want grab bars later, I'd add blocking during the framing just to make it easier. But as long as you hit studs with the bars no worries. Then panels themselves are not rated...

    Re: Venting BBQ....Exterior Structure

Exactly what T said. It is not just the size of the room that is the issue. It is the size of the vent hood over the grill and the distance from the grill. Grill smoke comes on quickly and in huge...

Re: LP SmartSide vs Fiber Cement siding

There are a number of good quality sealants for this application. One that comes to mind is Quad. Available in many colors. Then rule of thumb is this: if the price is low, so is the quality....

Re: LP SmartSide vs Fiber Cement siding
