How far off the gable end is it?

Every house I farmed in Cape Cod back in 1984were all 2x8 floor joists with no spans greater than 14'. A lot of additions I've framed we have to use 2x8's to match the existing joists on old homes.

Flush headers sit on the top plates whether you cut them out or nut. Bottom of header is flush with bottom of ceiling joists. What 1/4" are you talking about?

Why would a flush header be a weird application? They are done all the time. Or, are you saying it's weird for this situation?

Even when I framed the way you guys frame I did the shoes the same way, stopped them at all door openings never having to go back and cut out openings. We've had this discussion years ago.

What other kind of cross bridging is there?
