  • Perforated Selfadhesive Tape Warning

Recently used perforated self stick drywall tape -purchased 9/02 at Home Depot (NY) on a large job. Tape came in a clear poly bag. Within 1 month nearly every joint cracked, after the hardwood floors were installed and polyed. Framing was dry - it had been completed the previous year. Every joint had to be cut out and retaped.

    DO NOT USE THIS MATERIAL!!!!

I tried this tape a few years ago and I embedded it with a setting compound and as far as I know it held up fine. So maybe it has to be treated the same as fiberglass mess.

      Eric,

I have used the same tape on numerous jobs. Never had a cracking problem with it, and I too purchased the tape from a HD in NY. Curious if it was actually the tape or maybe another factor was involved.
