  • The History Channel, Research on drywall history, USG company history

Greetings from the History Channel! We are hoping to talk with someone who can tell us about United States Gypsum's (USG's) history as a company.

We are currently working on a historic home renovation show, and our current episode features a drywall project, and we are conducting background research on the development of drywall.

In doing preliminary research, it seems clear USG was the pioneer of the industry, creating and marketing the gypsum drywall material at the turn of the 20th century.

We would love to learn how the company originated and why it began to work with gypsum. What was the driving force, or motivation, for such entrepreneurship? How did the company evolve over the years?

If anyone knows of this information or has resources to contact, please reply.

Your time and help is very much appreciated.
