water damage

Hi...

Got some water damage to repair on a ceiling. The affected sheet is right in the middle of the room (no contact with walls) The tape has puckered. What is the best way to fix this. I was thinking of cutting the tape right out and re-taping the seams, priming and paintig the entire ceiling.

I have done a number of this types of repairs. If the drywall is still sound and the only damage is the tape joints, remove the tape. I use the fiberglass tape for repairs along with 45 minute setting compound for the first coat. For the second and third coats I use the light drying mud. If there are water stains you will need to seal the effected area. Good luck!!
