I can not remember the name of the company that has this product. It's very new I believe. Basically, after drywall is hung and taped w/ one coat compound. The walls an ceilings then are sprayed with a product that has a high build an provides the finish. Flat and smooth. Also it serves as the primer coat. So 2 coats finish paint comes next.

There are a few drywall companies that now have a product like this. The first to come out with it was USG and it is call Tuff Hide, it is a primer surfacer. It is spray applied over a sanded level 4 finish (3 Coats).

You still need to properly finish the seams - that's tape and two more coats and sand them, then comes the Tuff-Hide. I've seen it at a builders show - it's fantastic, it's better than a skim coat but you need an expensive sprayer. Know of a few guys who have used it and are all raving about it.

Hi,
What do you think about price for job per SF:
skim coat for wall,
spray on the wall,
plastering,
regular painting - 3 coats on the wall and cieling.

To spray on the tuff hide about 20 cents with material. To skim coat and prime about 32 cents and for painting I get about 15 cents a coat.
