View Full Version : Taping -- man vs. vulume
We have run into this problem on projects. The drywall hanging is at better that 80% complete and we want to start the taping process. There always seems to be a debate that the tapers need more work ahead of them. So, my question is this: Is their a rule of thumb for square foot of wall area per man/per day that can be accomplished in one day?

All depends if it is commercial or residential work.
I figure 100 sheet can be taped bedded skimmed and sanded in 40 hrs for one man. That would be for residential work.

Sometimes on larger jobs I will start taping before the hanging is done. There is so much to do like attach the bead, prefill gaps, and fix damaged areas. Maybe even tape areas where the automatic tools won't be used. All these things will keep a man busy and productive and will give the taping a boost when it is all ready to go.
